Job Description and Duties

Patton State Hospital, Human Resources Department, is accepting applications for at least (1) Permanent, Full-Time, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC).

Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors serve as an ancillary part of a patient’s treatment team and are responsible for providing Individual and Group Therapy; Mental health screenings; Utilizing evidence-based therapeutic interventions; and collaborating with the patients’ Treatment Team to address any treatment related concerns and provide critical observations related to patient care and treatment provided.

A successful candidate will have knowledge of human development, as well as the principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of mental health disorders that prevent successful adjustment to community living. Successful candidates will also possess excellent organization and communication skills. Candidates are required to work any shift and schedule, including but not limited to, evenings and weekends in a variety of settings throughout the hospital and may be required to work overtime and float to other work locations as determined by the operational needs of the hospital.

Knowledge Of:

  • Principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions
  • Community organization principles
  • Human problems and symptoms that prevent successful adjustment to community living
  • Scope and activities of public and private health and welfare agencies
  • Current trends in mental health, public health, substance use disorder treatment and public welfare, and Federal and State programs in these field

Eligible applicants MUST possess a valid Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) license issued by the California Board of Behavioral Science Examiners.

The position(s) require(s) a Drug Screening be passed prior to being hired.
